I’m a software developer and AI engineer at Kernel Science. I build platforms that research communities actually run on — and I sit on European panels arguing about how this technology should be governed.

01About

Hey there! Nice to meet you :) I’m Gabriele. I started coding at six, and today I’m a developer at Kernel Science, a scientific consultancy where I work alongside a theoretical physicist, a biologist, a protein chemist and a neuroscientist. We take on R&D for biotech, pharma, research foundations and deep-tech ventures.

What I’ve built there: PhysLib Search, a retrieval system over formalized physics; the FQXi Metascience Platform, serving 40+ researchers; and a conference ticketing platform. Right now I’m working on specialized AI model training and scalable inference.

Since 2022 I’ve worked on European digital policy. I advised European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the Special Panel on Child Safety Online. I’m a Better Internet for Kids Youth Ambassador and I sit on the BIK Advisory Board. I’ve contributed to work on the Digital Services Act, spoken at the Lisbon Council in Brussels, and argued publicly — including in Don’t Ban Young People from Social Media. Fix It. — that the answer to platform harm is regulating specific features, not blanket bans.

Before that I created Adelante for students, which quickly became a top download in Italy, helping high schoolers share study materials, and built SpreadIt, an AI social media manager.

Building something at the edge of science and software?

I’m always up for a conversation — research tooling, AI for discovery, or what the next set of rules should look like.
